Linux desktop monitor
Find out which app is slowing your computer, and what changed this week.
CPU, memory, disk and GPU, grouped by app. Local history, alerts and the dev servers you left running.
9 USD for the first 300 buyers, then 19 USD. One license for all your computers.
By buying you agree to the Terms, the Privacy policy and the 14-day technical refund policy.
7-day free trial, no account, no card.
The recording opens on Check-up, then moves to grouped apps, history, dev servers and the fan timeline. Each view shows the same captured Linux demo data used in the screenshots below.
No technical knowledge needed. Culprit tells you in plain words which app is slowing your computer down, and closes it for you if you want.
Right now
One row per app, with its processes underneath. Compare CPU, memory, disk I/O and GPU without adding up browser processes.
Missing readings keep their reason. Culprit does not guess what your hardware cannot report.

This week
Keep 30 days of local history. Compare app and system figures over 12 hours, 24 hours, a week or a month.
Export the recorded figures as CSV. History starts when you run Culprit.

Dev servers you forgot
See listening ports with their project folder, git branch, masked command and uptime. Spot an idle server and stop your own processes after confirmation.
Culprit does not escalate privileges or stop another user’s processes.

Why is the fan on
Line up fan speed and temperatures with the top CPU and GPU apps over the same minutes.
This shows what happened together. It does not prove that one app caused the heat.

What leaves your machine
The app checks your license weekly, sending your key, a salted machine hash and the app version. There is no automatic update check.
Metrics, history, process names and command lines stay on your computer. No telemetry, no analytics, no account. Activation and deactivation contact the same license service when you ask them to.
Your IP address reaches the hosting providers when you connect. A purchase goes through Stripe. Read the privacy policy and data map.

Built for Linux. Windows development is on hold; no release date is announced.
No per-process network counters in this release. Network totals are per interface. Some sensors and GPU readings depend on what your hardware and permissions expose.
Questions
How does this differ from Task Manager, htop, Mission Center and Vitals?
If you already use Task Manager, htop, Mission Center or Vitals, try Culprit for the questions here: which app is using resources now, what changed over the week, which project owns a listening port, and what was busy while the fans ran. Culprit brings grouped apps, local history, alerts and dev-server context into one Linux dashboard. It does not replace every diagnostic tool.
What is the measured overhead?
In ten-minute Linux runs on October 4, 2026, the background agent used about 0.44 percent of one CPU core with the NVIDIA GPU asleep and about 0.5 percent while it was active. With the window closed, the agent and AppImage runtime together used roughly 29 to 34 MB of resident memory. GPU queries briefly used another 26 MB in a separate process. Dashboard memory is additional. These results came from one Ubuntu 26.04 laptop and vary with hardware and workload.
What if it does not run?
Ask for help within 14 days of purchase. If Culprit does not run on your supported Linux machine and we cannot fix it, we refund the purchase and revoke the key. Refund policy.
Can I use my license on several computers?
Yes. One personal license covers all your computers, with 10 active device slots. A slot unused for more than 90 days can be replaced automatically. You can explicitly remove up to 20 devices per rolling year. Do not share or resell your key.
What happens after the trial?
The live grouped view stays free. History views, alerts, dev servers and export need a license after 7 days. History keeps recording locally, so buying unlocks the recorded past 30 days. A licensed copy keeps full features for 30 days from its last successful license check if the service cannot be reached.
